Do you need a life??
I was looking around at some of the talk here and wondered, "how much do some of these guys play?!" In another thread here, I found four entries remarking the following progression times that other players have taken to attain level 20:
30 - 40 hours
30 - 100 hours
10 days
3 weeks
I have a full time job, am married, have other interests that don't involve a computer, and I make a rule that any gaming does NOT come before my wife or real life family and friends ever. That leaves me with very little time to play any game, let alone Guild Wars, on any given day. My average is just under 2 hours per day (I used the "/age" command and divided Days Played by Hours Played and that gives you your average time per day... example: "You've played this character for 24 hours in the past 12 days" means you have an average of 2 hours per day).
I am level 19 and have only made it as far as Ventari's Refuge. I don't farm... I just play through quests and missions as they come up, sometimes backtracking just to see if I missed a quest here and there (sometimes I'll take some time to help other players I know that are of lower level).
I'm curious to see how often the rest of you play. And be honest with your results.
-> What level is your current character and how far along the storyline is he/she?
-> What is your average hours played per day when you do the math with the "/age" command (using your current character or any single other character, not total time amongst all characters unless you want to report that too)?
-> Do you do a lot of other things besides just play through quests and missions like farming or helping other guild members out to account for some of that time?
EDIT: Corrected some crappy math

When I'm in GuildWars "mode" it's about 2-4 hours a night when I can play. Anywhere 3-5 days a week.
When I'm not in GW mode, aka taking break, it's maybe 2-5 yours a week.
My primary character has done everything except the finals titans quest and some of the bonus missions.

I was averaging 8.5 hrs a day the first month I got it. But then school started and I play about 2-3hrs a night. And now I got a job that requiers me to wake up at 7AM and I don't even play on weekdays anymore.

682 Hours over the past 7 Months.
Averages at 3 hours and a bit. Haven't played past few days anyway, got bored, just waiting for Factions (Chapter 2) now.
And sheez Young Hero, your time period is less than half of mine and you play more than I have in 7 months over your 3 months. o_O

I don't want to open my Guild Wars at the moment, but I believe it's at 200 hours after 4 months of gameplay. I play from 5-20 hours on weekends. It is a must to get off the computer for either studying or hanging out with friends. I study for about 2-6 hours on a weekend and hangout/leave the house for atleast 5-12 hours. At the moment I am feeling desperatly bored with Guild Wars, my gameplay time has decreased from 5-20 to 5-10, that's a decrease by half in amount of time played. I am considering World of Warcraft, since many people who lay it have 500+ hours of gameplay and are nowhere near bored. Guild wars is just the same shit over and over again. I start a new characters, it's the same quests, just different skill rewards. I am sick of it. (considering giving away all my items for free)

Well see... that's a difficult question. How much do I play? Or how much of my time every day is devoted to Guild Wars? Or how much sleep do I lose over Guild Wars related things? Or what level should my character be if I factored in the average amount of time I spent doing Guild Wars things other than being in game... maybe I should just stop.

I've played about 100 hours in last 6 months... I've finished the Ring of Fire, got to level 20 at around LA... I mostly just play through the game, doing all the quests I can find. I play in spurts, often going for months without touching the game. It's not really that time-intensive of a game.

INDE: LoL answer any or all of those! Or none!
EOM: I don't actually play 2 hours a day. It's an average. I usually have a long session on one of the weekend days and short spurts throughout the week. But, I'm just curious about everyone's average, not real time ("Well, this week I didn't play on Tuesday, so... uh..." Nope. Don't care about that.). And you're right about the math, which I will edit in a moment.
Folks, ultimately I am trying to figure out how long it takes people to get to certain levels or to certain places in the game as well as how much time people invest into GW. I've heard about some scary stories about EverQuest (even WoW) addicts putting in ungodly amounts of time into it and not getting very far in the overall grand scheme of the game. I don't have the patience for that sort of experience which is one thing I really like about GW.

I play a lot, perhaps 3 week nights and a lot on weekends. GW is the only game I play, which is typical for me to only focus on one game at a time.
I have been playing since May and have 6 level 20's, 2 of which have finished all missions, 3 are up to the fire islands, 1 is at Thirsty River. I also created/played/deleted a number of toons while figuring out the game and deciding what to play. I'm at work so can't check hours logged.
I do a lot of previous missions and quests with guildies, just a little farming, and only a little PvP. I have all quests on all toons completed except Sorrows Furnace, Titans or those not yet awarded.

I wouldn't worry to much, altought you can skip the jungle entirely (although you will miss out on half the story), and ascention is recomended but not necessary (I completed thunderheed keep with a lvl 15 monk).
The thing about GW is that you can play the game at your own pace. You progress the strory, not the game, you can farm for gold, items and exp points that slow things down.
So if you don't waste time and don't have to endlessly stand around "LFGing" you should be able to complete at least one toon by ther chapter 2 release

381 hours in 6 months. Slightly over 2 hours a day. Obviously less now than in the summer; I even quit playing completely, but then I got ressed by the Halloween Event, so I log in regularily now.
2 ascended characters, one finished the game, one sits at third-to-last mission because I'm too lazy to destroy all the final boss thingies again. Last month I began farming with him, and that's what he mostly does now. Meanwhile, my first character is spending his time looking for good tombs groups and failing horribly.

I don't mean to make you feel bad, but you are way off...
8 months is 240 days (approx) and 837 hours over 240 days is about 3.5 hours per day
I didn't check mine cuz I am at work, and unfortunately they would be mad if I installed it. Maybe cuz that would cut my actual work time to about 15 minutes per day (or less I didn't really time out what it woulb be )
